Hello everyone...

I'm a first time builder that finally had enough of the prebuilt crap systems. My build was going well until I started a clean install of Windows XP Home SP2 OEM. It's the full (builders) version that works as advertised right up until all the files are loaded and starts to reboot...it keeps going back to start the install process all over again.

I never get the "press any key to start windows" message. If I remove the installation CD I get the "no bootable device--insert boot disk and press any key" message. I've gone into the bios and changed the order of my boot sequence to no avail.

My harddrive is PATA and the optical is SATA so I removed the SATA and installed a PATA optical; still no help. All hardware/software was purchased new. (The case was a gateway in it's first life.)

I'm not sure if this is a software or hardware compatibility issue. I checked Intel's website and confirmed the motherboard came with the newest bios version installed.

Any suggestions?
