I was just wondering,

would two 320MB 8800GTS cards outperform a single 768MB 8800GTX?
Two 8800GTS are about $40 cheaper than the single 8800GTX.

An interesting question. Sorry, I don't know.

I would say no because SLI mode is not always active, you would only see equal performance in games.

Also, think of the space it will take up in your case...LoL. The 8800 GTS is HUGE.

Also right now any nVidia based boards don't have optimum compatible drivers if you are running VISTA. nVidia really dragged their feet on this one and are way behind it getting the VISTA drivers out.

The SLi 8800GTS would only outperform the GTX at the highest resolutions available, and unless you have a monitor with extremely high resolutions opt for one card.

ok, the best way to know is to go to google and type in " Dual 8800 gts vs. 8800GTX" Many sites are constantly testing video cards in different ways.

Even better, change the word dual to SLi, much more results ;)

I'd get the one best card you can afford, then in several months-year you can get the same card (second card) at a considerably lower price and then run it in SLI.
