Hi

I ordered an Abit IP35 Pro motherboard a couple of days ago, and just learned that they are back ordered for up to 4 weeks! They claimed that the "live" inventory which showed that they had stock was out of date. I did some research, and spoke to the sales rep at the store which is bringing in my Processor and case. He says that I could order the Asus P5K Deluxe/Wifi Motherboard (model # P5K DELUXE/WIFI-AP ). Do you think this will fit in well with the rest of the components? (see below). Thanks for your help.

Case: Antec P182 ATX Black Mid Tower Case.

PSU: Antec Neopower 650 Blue 650W ATX

Motherboard: Asus P5K Duluxe/Wifi ??

CPU:Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Quad Core Processor LGA775 Kentsfield 2.40GHZ 1066FSB 8MB Retail Box

Graphics card:XFX GeForce 8800GT COD4 512MB 600MHZ 1.8GHZ GDDR3 PCI-E Dual DVI-I HDCP DIRECTX10 Video Card (part #PVT88PYDF4).

Oh, wait. I just remebered. Aren't you in Canada?

Also, 2 ram sticks tend to be less problematic that 4. Look for kit that has 4gb consisting of (2x2gb).

Unfortunately I already ordered 4x 1gb. I think I picked the wrong line on the NCIX web site, because I see that they do have 2 gb sticks. Am I looking for trouble with 4x1? Should I try to exchange them?

No, the 4 sticks will work. They just tend to be "problematic". Plus they don't provide you with a very good upgrade path.

OK. Thanks. Is the Asus MB a suitable substitue for the Abit?

BTW, I read a couple of posts on other site that trying to install Vista with over 2 gb memory can sometimes cause problems. Have you encountered this?
