Hey there, seeing as this is my first post, I'm Matt ^_^ Nice too meet everyone.

Now, my things is I'm looking into building my first self-built computer, and looking at different parts, and two parts I like might not be compatable and want your opinion.

The motherboard, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128082 is Intel

The Processor, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103254 is AMD

Would they work together?

No.

CPUs have different pin configurations depending on what brand/model they are. This pin setup is known as the socket type. As such, a CPU with socket type 775, say, will only fit in a motherboard that has the same socket type.

So your CPU is socket AM2+, but your motherboard is socket 775, so they won't work together.

Why do you want that processor? For an extra $50 you can get the E8400 which is a fantastic processor - one of the best around at the moment.

It was more for the awesomness of having a "tri-core" (I'm a loser, I know), but I'll check that out, thanks :)
