AVG no longer free

I just discovered that AVG Antivirus (Free Version) will no longer be supported after May 31. Are there any comparable free antivirus software programs available?

EDIT--Well, forgive my ignorance. Apparently there is a free version of the 8.0 upgrade available. I thought they were charging for all versions now. My bad.

There is a program called Avast that is widely used and free too.
