Archived Super PCs?

Hello,

I've been following the excellent site on and off for some time but this is my first time at the forum and first post so I apologize in advance if I missed the answer in some obvious place.

I need to build a new PC but the current components are too much right now. I was wondering if older Super PC recommendations were archived? I think I'd be okay with say a 12 - 18 month old version. The most demanding thing I do is probably 3D CAD work but have been okay with my old KR7A and AMD 1500 with 3/4 gig ram and 17" monitor. I'm hoping to temporarily reuse my case, hard drives, DVD, newish 500W PS, and Win2K. Don't play any games except Freecell. I also want to do some digital video editing in case someone wants to say I'm nuts to go with anything but the latest recommendations...

Thanks for the good words. I currently have three sets of step-by-step assembly instructions available online.

The oldest assembly instructions are at this link and, in fact, use an ABIT KR7A-133 motherboard.

Each set of assembly instructions uses progressively newer technology. The last link for the upcoming assembly instructions actually includes the components in My Super PC today.

Thanks for the really fast reply! That was what I was looking for. If I'm lucky I can reuse my board but if not it looks like I can still upgrade from where I am now for not too much.
