what i am looking for is some advice on the type of motherboard i will be needing to fit thease into ?

need it to hold over 4gb of 240 pin RAM and 775 socket :D

Yes, any motherboard will have the connectionsfor the front panel. If you follow the link that shyster posted in the previous thread, it shows you how to connect them up to your motherboard.

A couple of things:

1. The first board is AMD Socket 939, so that's out the window.
2. The second board uses the old Intel 965 chipset, but this is all you are going to get within your budget range
3. I wouldn't buy computer components from eBay, unless you buy them new from an eBay shop - you just don't have the guarantees that you would get from a proper shop.

I assume that your budget is between £25-50, so here are a few possibilities:

This second one is a good board, but only supports a max of 4GB of RAM.

What are the rest of your components and what is your max budget? This would give us a better idea for helping you with components choice.

well i updated my pc with new graphics card i am doing it bit by bit so got a new graphics card and a new pc case for more room but when i moved all my stuff the motherboard wouldnt connect so i need a knew one and have also bought another 4gb of ram but cant afford a new cpu at the moment as want a good one that will last me a good couple of years so i will leave this for a few months.

what i need is a good motherboard to support current cpu and be able to hold the 5gb i will have also be able to update the cpu and possible add another graaphics card to go sli so that i wont need a new motherboard for a while

so what can you recomend even if you give me a expensive option and a mid range if you know what i mean?

I wouldn't advise using SLI as the problems far outweigh the benefits.

To be honest, you are better off saving your money for the moment and buying everything at the same time. By buying things every couple of months, most of your components will not be under warranty by the time you have assembled everything you need, so if anything goes wrong you are in trouble.

Anyhoo, you want a decent motherboard that will last you a while. You still haven't said what your upper limit is in terms of price, so I can't really offer you those options if I don't know what you consider expensive.

You are better off looking at a more modern chipset e.g. Intel's P35/X48 or nVidia's 7xx series chipsets.

For £60, you can get the Gigabyte P35-DS3L, which is a very solid board:

If you are set on using SLI, then this XFX board is excellent value:

That eVGA board you selected is pretty good, but does have some RAM issues i.e. people have had problems with certain brands of RAM.

The Gigabyte board you chose is also pretty solid.

Yes, dabs is very good - never had any trouble with them. Had a few bad components, but their returns service is excellent. If you don't want to use dabs, then aria.co.uk or ebuyer.com are also good choices.

hallow again i just bought the gigabyte n680sli-dq6 for a good price i installed everything but when i turn on pc it runs cpu fan and graphics card fan runs then it turns off ?
this is when i first boot it ! it is still doing the same thing after a few tries everything is correct installed ?

would it mybe my psu ? its only 350w

Hmm, it could be - you really need a more powerful PSU nowadays.

It could also be that the CPU power connector - the 6-pin power connecter from the PSU to the mobo - has come loose.
