Thanks to all the moderators and posts.
I read every thread and decided to go for it !

I have this build up and running !

VGA EVGA 512-P3-N801-AR 8800GT 512M
FD 1.44MB|SAMSUG SFD321B/LBL1
HD 500G|WD 7K 16M SATA2 WD5000AAKS
MS WIN VISTA ULTIMATE SP1 EN DVD RT
CASE ANTEC|SONATA III 500 BK RT
MB GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L P35+ICH9
PSU CORSAIR|CMPSU-520HX RT
CPU INTEL|C2D E8400 3G 775 45N R
MEM 1Gx2|CRUCIAL BL2KIT12864AA804
MNTR SMSNG|LCD 22" 5MS DVI 2253BW
DVD BURN SAMSUNG|SH-S203B
SW MICROSOFT OFFICE 2007
CPUCOOLER|ARCTIC P4|ACFZ7-PRO R

only one glitch...probably self induced. Everything was going
great !. Even the Vista install.... but then before I could install
chipset drivers, I had to leave computer long enough for it to
go into sleep mode....upon awakening it gave me an error and
tried to download a chipset (ch91) driver..and I let it...(bad)...next boot
long beep code before normal boot.....repeated....

So, I went backwards, reset CMOS by jumpers, installed each
UPDATED driver one at a time with a boot between.. NO Problem !

The machine is fast and temps are stable....
Next, I plan on making it dual boot to Ubuntu w/ compiz fusion.

Thanks for the great site !

Congrats on your new build - let us know if you need any help with dual booting Ubuntu as I do it myself. :)

I will keep yall posted on the dual boot process.
I have already done it on a laptop w/considerable
hacking. I am hoping the desktop build will go more
smoothly. (Nvidia instead of ATI + Intel instead of
AMD64) Anyway, machine has been running now for
a couple of weeks trouble free.

I tried to install some of the temp monitoring programs
on some dells and it could not find any sensors ?

I decided that the big guys were too cheap to include these
in their motherboards ?????

Also, I forgot to thank Rob for the site. I bought his book and
it was helpful....all in all ... a good investment.
The book is obviously a work in progress as tech develops.
