Are most CPU fans the same size and how do you find out if you can use them with a specific motherboard?

You can easily go to Newegg.com and see which fans are made for (or have adapters for) the CPU type that your board takes.

The more difficult problem is if the fan will fit inside your case. Strangely, case and board manufacturers never really got together to come up with a good standard so we could know what will fit. Probably the only thing you can do is find a fan you like and look for reviews on if it fits the case/board you have.

CPU fans are determined by the socket of the CPU e.g. a socket 775 CPU fan will only fit on a socket 775 CPU.

In terms of whether or not it will fit in your case, then find the size of the fan online and use a tape measure to check the space in your case.

Sorry about that. I posted before I checked Newegg. I got it now though.
