64 bit vs 32 bit question

I just bought a bunch of stuff off Newegg because of this site and instructions.

One question I have is: I run Vista 64 bit and I just saw something talking about how the constuction of a 64bit pc is a little different than a 32 bit pc....specifically the motherboard. I just bought th MB ASUS P5N32-E SLI NF680I 775 motherboard.

If I am installing Vista 64, is this ok? what is the difference between a 64 bit system and simply running Vista 64?

There are two main differences:
1. You need a 64-bit CPU. Don't worry, as all modern CPUs are 64-bit.
2. 64-bit OSs can run more than 3GB of RAM, whereas 32-bit OSs can't.

The only problem you might face is getting drivers if you have older hardware.

Thanks! I just bought all the new hardware from Newegg. Everything recommended on this site. It all should be here in a few days and then I will begin my first build.

Good good - everyone on the forums agrees that Intel is the best at the moment, but AMD is good for budget machines.
