Gaming Build Parts List, Any Comments?

So i just finished up building my first computer a couple weeks ago (thanks for the help guys) and my parents commissioned me to build another one for my brothers graduation present in 2 weeks, its going to be a bit of a squeeze :eek: . Its for gaming and has a target price of around $700-$800 for just the PC. Well here goes the parts list:

I am just making sure that this card will be completely stable and i won't have to worry about anything in terms of too much heat or something else, i don't really want to get into that territory yet (still not really sure of myself completely even after building one computer).

You might want to invest in a slightly more powerful PSU - the current recommendation around here is the Corsair HX520.

Other than that, everything looks excellent - your brother is going to love it. :)

It was my understanding that the 500 watt psu in the Sonata III has an 80% efficiency rating, and is rating very good overall.

Isn't the WD HD, E8400, and 8800GTS 512 supposed to be "energy saving"?

I guess, but I'm not sure if 500W will be enough to power everything.

Its up to you - the Earthwatts range are quite good nowadays, so you could probably get away with using the provided one. It was just a suggestion if you had some cash left over. :)

Your setup looks very similar to my build from a week or so ago. The only real difference is you have a much better video card (mine was the 8600GT). My systems works great, yours should be that much better.

I think i will stick to the built in PSU, since i have pretty much maxed out my budget. And bighoo, i definitely jacked most of the parts your build, so hopefully mine ends up working just as well as yours did.

Hey, my parts came today and the silica package that the HDD had been stored with had broken so some of the silica is filling in the outer crannies of the HDD. Will this cause any hardware problems? Basically should I RMA this back to new egg or is that unnecessary? (I am in a bind to get this finished before my brother graduates in 9 days.)

You should be fine, but it might be worth trying to get it out using a toothpick, or something like that, as the heat from the HD would probably melt it.

Even so, it won't cause any hardware problems.
