Do you have a budget? Is it a gaming pc?

yeah its a gaming pc. i kinda just jumped into the idea of making my own rig and didnt really take time to think about it :P so yeah any suggestions would be cool. also, i have a hdd from another computer with stuff still on it. what do i have to do with that? wipe it or can i keep everything?

You will probably need to wipe it if you plan to put it in your new computer as your main drive.

If it is the drive from the gateway then it probably was coded to the gateway in terms of hardware both for the drivers and for the OS OEM activation code. If it was just the drivers you could uninstall them and get the new ones for your new computer, however if the OS was installed OEM it will probably not work with a new computer that has new hardware.

Hard drives are pretty cheap though about $100 for 500gb so it is not that much extra just to start fresh with a new drive.
