chkdsk stops running

during one of those routine checks (when u restart ur pc), chkdsk always stops at 4% for me.

can anyone tell what's wrong with my pc?
does my hard drive have a problem?

chkdsk shouldn't always run when you restart your PC - only if you restart it by turning the power off, or something like that.

You should have the option to cancel it when it starts - does your OS load if you cancel it?

that's just it, because i did not let it complete the check on my hardisk
it keeps on running everytime i restart my pc.

yes, my OS loads when i cancel chkdsk.
