Explain RAID please

Ok my motherboard will support RAID 0, 1, 0+1, and 5. I would like to know what each raid version does.

My scenario specifically:

I will be using 4 320GB Sata Hard Drives and using raid I want to get 1 TB + 256GB (1,280GB) of storage space.
