This was my first PC and I had a $1000 dollar budget. I am very very pleased with the end result. I used this site as a way to guide me through the process, thanks Rob:)
Specs- (everything purchased from newegg.com)
Case-Antec Sonata II-$99
Processor- Intel Core 2 Duo e6600- $305
Motherboard- ASUS P5N-E SLI- $125
Video card- XFX geForce 7600gt-$120 (wanted a better one, but my budget wouldnt allow it)
Dvd drive- Lite-on 16x- $35
Harddrive- Seagate 320gig 7200 16mb cache-$85
Memory- Patriot 2gb DDR2- $189
Monitor- Sceptre 20'- $210
Total: $1170
Rebates: - $130
New Total: $1040
I love my new pc, and it was within my budget (by $40), its amazingly fast, the monitor is amazing for the cost, only thing I would have liked to do is upgrade my video card but seeing as newer and better ones come out so fast i'll just wait. Feel free to let me know what you guys think. Sean:)
