No it doesn't need to be flashed.

Check all connections, make sure everything is seated properly etc.

Thank you for the information. I finally got my first boot after I removed 2 of the 4 one meg Crucial Memory sticks. What could be the reason for this? Is one of my sticks bad or is it the mobo? I am a newbie so please be patient this is my first build.

Yeah, i thought it might be a memory problem.

The reason it may not have been booting with 4 sticks of memory is because 1) as you said, one stick may be faulty 2) some motherboards don't like having four sticks of memory in them or 3) the Bios default settings may not be able to support four sticks which means they need to be changed.

My suggestion.

Boot up with one stick, install windows, make sure everything is smooth, then install the rest one stick at a time, test and so on.
