This will be my first build and my first with SATA. I have changed out many PATA/IDE hard drives and loaded OS on them. Will I run into any problems loading Win XP Pro on the SATA hard drive. I've read some have had trouble. I plan on using the ASUS P5KC MB and a Seagate Barracuda HD and the Intel Q6600. Are there any other major difference in SATA drives...

Not really - SATA drives are not really any different to IDE drives.

One thing though. If you have an older motherboard, then you may need to download the SATA drivers for it from the motherboard manufacturer's website. When you are installing XP, it will prompt you to press F6 to install third-party SATA drives. Do this, load the SATA drivers, and install away.

Most modern motherboards can deal with SATA drives without any additional drivers, so you should be fine. :)
