overheating?

hi,

i have my 2.66GHz processor overclocked to 3.0GHz and I used CoreTemp to see the heat:

during idle is about 35-ish celcius

during stress test/ heavy workload is MAX at 48 degrees celcius and doesn't go over that


I think that this is a good heat to be at with an overclocked CPU, but just to make sure.... is this overheating or is at a regular temperature?

I believe as long as you are under 50 degrees you are safe. That being said if you ran a stress/torture test and it did not crash or shut down on its own you are probably good.

Finally if you do not smell anything burning you are also probably good.

48C is nothing. My 6750 gets to 56C everytime I game, which is still acceptable.
