Hi ,

In December you were very helpful with my first build. Thanks again. It was a low budget project since I wasn't sure that I could produce a working pc.

It used a Rosweil case and 600w ps, Intel celeron 420 psu, geforce 8400gt video card, seagate 500gb (2) HDD's and works well with entry level gaming and minor video editing, Abit P35-E mb and 2gb OCZ ram.

I am in Florida and the computer is at home in New York. I will return to NY May 1. I plan to upgrade to a faster processor (Intel E8400) and video card.

Today on Newegg the MSI 8800 GT-OC is on sale for $199.99after rebate. Since I wont be using it until May or June I wonder if I should buy now or wait until I amready to install it ie June.

Are there any known issues with this card? I dont think that the price will be much lower by then but I don't know much.

Any opinions would be welcome. Thanks...jp

Thanks Jamie,

The card is ordered! Rebate form printedand ready to go. Thank you for the info.

In May or June when I install the new cpu and video card I will have the Celeron 420 and geforce 8400 GT512 left over. I think that I am developig an addiction to computr building since while in Florida I look over dealnews.com and Fry,s electronics, as well as Newegg. I decided to build a small form factor since I will have a cpu and video card from the first build.

I bought the AntecNSK 1300 case w/300w psu, Samsung dvdrw, 250gb Seagate SATA HDD, 2Gb OCZ mem, and Logitech LX 710 cordless kbd and laser mouse. I plan to hook this up to a 50" Plasma tv in my den just for kicks. I need to research a micro ATX motherboard.....Any ideas or suggestions on this project would be appreciated...I guess that this is the wrong thread but the build will happen in May or so.

Thanks again..........jp

Hi, Just a quick update. Two days after ordering this card for $200 after rebate, Newegg had it again for $185 with a free game, the Witcher. Unfortunately they were out of stock. I will refuse delivery of the first card and wait for the new price. Even if it doesn't have the game, it shows where the card will end up price wise, by the time I will want to install it....jp

Yeah, the longer you wait the better off you'll likely be.

Yeah good idea to wait, the Witcher is a great game so i would wait for it personally, $185 for the MSI with the same HSF that was on the 7900GTX is amazing though.
