Anyone here purchase memory from some of the vendors on ebay? There are two that offer really good prices on memory (PC3200 DDR's) and I am tempted to purchase 1GB for my old Dell (2.8mhz P4).

I am planning to build my own system in the very near future and I wanted to squeeze out a few more months (maybe years) out of this one and with only 512MB it's really slow.

Anyway, this is more of a question of buying from these ebay'ers who are essentially selling generic ram vs. the name brands like crucial and kingston.

Thanks

As long as you get a guarantee with it, then you should be OK. Just make sure that they say that you can return the RAM if it is faulty.

I have done, once, as long as the seller is reputable and has good feedback you should be ok.

However i would only advise you buy new memory, not second hand.

Great - actually, after reviewing the seller's ad it says that the ram does not work with Intel, ASUS and Dell (Which I have).

The Dell memory that they do sell is 3X the price ($75 vs. $25)! You see, things are too good to be true.
