i downloaded this and was gonna go through the guide i got in another thread but it says there is a compatabilty issue with my gpu since it hasnt been tested on it. rivatuner opens and everything but it wont let me customize settings for video card. it shows my video card but thats it?? i have new 8800gts 512 (g92).

so i looked around and am not sure what im looking for. i uninstalled and reinstalled after updating all drivers on my computer and it still says unsupported driver and wont let me change fan speeds. it seems to recognize what gpu i have cuz it says name and everything.

Just on a quick look through their forums I believe this might be your answer:

The Device ID for a G92 8800GTS isn't in the RivaTuner.cfg yet so you have to add it.

Open the RivaTuner.cfg file with Notepad.

In the [GPU_10DE] section change the line that reads:

G92 = 610h-61Fh

to

G92 = 600h-60Fh,610h-61Fh.

Don't forget to save the file after you edit it!!!

so i tried to do that change and it says it cant create file and to contact administrator to do it. I AM THE ADMIN!!! any ideas??

Does it work now, was the guide I posted correct or did you have to do something else to edit the file?

lol yea so i was able to customize it so that when my card reaches certain temps my fan speed increases and when it gets to 81c it will shut itself down. you can also have it to display temps when hovering mouse over the rivatuner emblem. very seet program. fan does get super loud when at 80-100%. 60% is tolerable and it comes stock set at 29%. but yea it works thanks for the help with the link. :D

I set mine to run at 40%, 70%, and 100%. Even wearing a headset, I can hear it at 70%. This thing is way too loud. I just had to rma my video card back to EVGA. I hope they send me the new version with better cooling.

which one do u have? at 60 i can sorta hear mine but it definitely isnt loud and 80 is sorta loud and 100 is definitely loud. 60 is very tolerable for mine. and 80 i can deal with because i have fairly decent speakers.

You have the better video card. I have the 8800GT. Actually UPS has it on the way back to EVGA. :mad:
