Guys..I'm new at this so hear me out. For years(and I do mean Years), I've owned and used an IBM Aptiva. After putting it in the shop, I decided to check out the Barebone kits at Tiger Direct. Purchased one, paid 50.00 for assembly, had XP installed and, I'm Very happy. I watched the guy putting it together and I thought"I can do this". I just purchased Rob's book,(I hope it's better than the "Building a PC for Dummies" that I bought.

I plan on taking out the floppy, CD player and CD burner and using in in the new rig that i'm going to build for my son..

You can do it. It's not very hard.

Good luck!

Not hard at all, just ask if you get stuck.

I too was nervous about building myself though had been fidling with my old PC (assembled by someone else). After reading Rob's book online several times over and some read at Tom's Hardware website I put together one. It took me a couple of months to decide the configuration but just about 6 hours to get it running after I bought the components. Saved me about 50% cost compared to the closest HP desktop (in config) I wanted to buy.

I would say it is 'Plug and Play'.
