My proposed build

I plan to start building either this weekend or early next week, Here's my proposed build... so far. Any comments and suggestions will be welcome.

Also note this will mainly be a gaming PC.


Case: Antec P182 or Antec 900

PSU: OCZ GameXStream 700W Power Supply

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400

Mobo:

Ram:

GPU: EVGA GeForce 8800 GTX Superclocked

Hard Drives: Western Digital Caviar RE2 GP 1TB

Any other must haves? Suggestions for Mobo and Ram?

The case is basically a personal preference. The 182 and 900 are both excellent cases. I like the 900 because of its cooling abilities and it doesn't have a front door.

A P35 motherboard is hard to beat. Look of Asus, Gigabyte, and Abit. All good.

Unless you plan on running a 64 bit Operating Ssytem, 2 gb will be plenty. A great choice for very little money is the Corsair XMS2 pc6400.

That's an expensive video card, but if you got the cash, go for it. I've heard new cards are due out in the next couple of months. Another option might be to get an 8800GTS 512 from EVGA and use their Step-up program 90 days later to get the latest version. Just an idea.

You didn't list an Optical Drive, don't forget that.
