I am jealous, I will probably order my parts this weekend.

As for circuit city, what was the original price on it, and was it a display model one from a box?

By the way good luck and have fun.

it was normally 229.99. it was an open box special. it came with all cables and a 1 year warranty for 179.99 after i haggled with them. im pretty happy.

i think u can when it comes to open box specials and display specials and stuff like that. i work at wal-mart and people haggle all the time when it comes to getting a good price on something on display or to upgrade a product for same price if one they want isnt in stock since we dont give rainchecks. remember it never hurts to ask. worst they could say is no.:D

iiiprimeiii,

I have come to the conclusion of ordering almost the exact system. Does that mean that both of us know what we are doing, or neither?

I have to go with the
Monolith II ATX Mid Tower ($39.99)
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0266557
for a case, because I can only accommodate a height of 16.5". How does one discover if a given PSU will fit a particular case? I could use the same corsair 520hx that you picked, but I don't know if it is compatible with this particular case. The Antec NSK4480 fits my height specifications, but has an integrated 380W, which I think is a little light.

I am probably going to go with PC-8500 memory, so I can OC more to the maximum bus capacity but I haven't decided yet. PC-6400 is almost free right now.

Any advice would be appreciated, and have fun with your new box.

The Corsair should fit in that case fine.

Jamie,

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if I need 520W, since I run a minimal graphics card and probably only one drive. If you think there is something better to go with my case and other specs, I would appreciate it if you would let me know.

I have everything listed in the thread:
advice about a new system (please)

Thanks,
