So I read a tip on increasing game performance. It said to create a new windows user profile just to use for games. The idea is to only load games and trim the windows settings to get it as lean as possible.
Made sense to me so I started working on it. From what I can tell, it is exactly the same thing. You cant change anything in the msconfig or services.msc without it affecting your main profile so that is out. All of the spyware/firewall apps are running on the game profile so no savings there. The only place I could make a difference was with the windows performance settings. I was able to turn off the xp pretty stuff and make it look like 2000. This saves me some resources but not what I was hoping for.
Am I missing something? Am I doing something wrong or does this just not work?
And I am using xp sp2.
