Hello all,

Just joined the forum and have, what else, a "burning" question. I have an old HP Vectra VE with a 350 MHz Pentium 2 processor and 4 GB RAM. What I am wanting to do with it in the future is put an entirely new CPU and mother board in it. I am thinking of going with an AMD processor and motherboard matched to the AMD processor. Anyway, the question is, could I use an AMD CPU and it's matched motherboard in the Vectra replacing only these two components? That is, is everything else compatible with AMD ? I would rather not have to replace the entire "guts" of the system. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

How much do you have to spend?

It wont be plug and play so to speak, you would have to make sure your ram and all fits the new motherboard you would use and you would have to be able to reinstall your OS.
