I recently built a super PC. I have the Sony DVD burner DRU-830A. I do not have any other CD/DVD player installed. I loaded Pinnacle Studio 11 software. I have not been able to burn any DVD using this software, NERO. Microsoft, etc. I contacted Pinnacle and have taken all actions recommended with no success. They are telling me that I have a hardware problem. I have verified all hardware installations. My DVD player is connected as the Master Drive. Does anyone have recommendations for further actions?

Do you get an error message when you try to burn a disc?

Do you get an error message when you try to burn a disc?

Yes, "Burning Failed. Please make sure to use a empty erasable disk."

Hmmm...

I assume that you've tried with several discs. Are they definitely the right type for your DVD drive? Some only accept -R/+R or something like that.

Also, have you always had this problem or is it a recent thing?

I have tried all versions of discs. (+/-) Also, I have never burned a DVD with this unit. This is my first attempt. Finally, I have installed the latest drivers for the burner.

It may be a problem with the DVD-burner itself, in that case. Is it still under warranty? You should try and get a replacement.

Not sure if it is under warranty. I will verify. Thanks for the input.
