Hey All,

Posted a few weeks ago about building a system that can handle Flight Simulation fairly well. After reading through these boards, I have come up with this build:

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129021

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139001

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115017

MBoard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131188

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145176

HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136109

Drive: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827136120

Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16814130319

I'm also going to purchase 64-bit Vista.

Also, is there a good combo out there with a motherboard with the CPU already installed? I'm rather nervous about installing the CPU myself. If I HAVE to install it myself, what do I need for that? The thermal stuff? A fan to go on top of it? I'm pretty sure that the case will do a good enough job of keeping all the internals cool but I could be wrong.

Nonetheless, how does that build look for flight simulation and other gaming?

Terrific build.

I've seen combos at mwave.com where they will actually test it before they ship it.

Have you considered the 8800GTS 512mb card? Its a little more expensive, but its top notch.

Awesome. I just added the 8800GTS and placed my order with NewEgg.

$1,200. Not too bad for such a powerful computer.

I went ahead and ordered the motherboard and CPU as is. I might as well learn how to do it now rather than put it off all the time.

Am I going to need anything to place the CPU on the motherboard? I'm rather confused about all the thermal "paste" and everything.

The CPU comes with strips of compound on there. When pushing down on the connectors on the CPU, you'll think you're about to destroy your motherboard, but it will eventually 'click' into place.

Do you have a monitor? I didn't see one listed.

I'm going to be using a 24'' flat-screen HDTV that has the connection for a PC for now.

I plan on eventually purchasing a real PC monitor but this will do for now until I get the rig up and running.
