Is there much of a difference between these 2 cards. Right now the price difference is $79.99 vs $89.99 after rebate.

The 8600GT performs better than a 7600GT but not as well as a 7900GS.

The 8600GT also supports DX10, so the extra $10 is money well spent, if you afford an extra $20, you should consider getting a 512MB version, the extra V-ram helps in new games.

Does the 8600GT support DX10 with Windows XP?

You can't get DX10 for XP.

8600gt because it's newer plus it can do more than the 7000 series can. Keep in mind that your computer has to be pretty powerful to keep up with the video card and make sure your power supply can provide enough juice for the card.

The 8600gt is a pretty good card. I put it in my build. Plays C&C 3 on the highest settings and World in Conflict on the highest settings too.
