P4 vs C2D

Getting ready to build gaming machine and currently have a machine with P4 3.4 chipset. Would I be ahead of the game going to C2D or using my P4 chip? This will be my first build so I will be here with lots of questions.

C2D is much much much.......much better than the P4. Go for an E6750 - great CPU.
