If you read my other topic you know I am interested in playing crysis. I have my complete parts list, with 2 HD's and 3 video cards to choose from. I need help picking the right ones, and if it is a good build overall. I am not interested in storing massive amounts of information, and would like a smooth framerate at the low settings (at the least). Please tell me which are the right ones:

EDIT: Is the power supply going to be enough, or overkill? How do I calculate how much power is needed? Also, the cases' I/O panel doesn't seem to match up with the motherboard? Does the panel shield supplied with the case come off, and then you install the one that comes with the board?

Hopefully this fixes things:

1)Which video card is acceptable for at least low settings?

2) Power Supply - just right or overkill? (how to tell?)

3) Which HD?

4) Good build overall?

A few things I would change:
1. PSU is waaay too much - go for the Corsair HX520
2. Corsair RAM is really cheap atm - XMS2 2GB is $47 at newegg, iirc
3. I'd suggest the 8800GT as a good card for Crysis.
4. You will probably want a bigger HD than that, considering that Crysis takes up 12GB of space... I'd recommend a SATA 2 WD 320GB, as that will give you loads of space. Either that, or get a WD 10,000 Raptor, which is very fast but only about 80GB. Its up to you whether you need a lot of space or not.

Hope this helps?

1) I thought the power supply was too much, so I googled how to find out. I found a site that said I only need 370W. So I am going with a built in supply The case I want comes with a 420W supply as an option, so that's what I'm getting.

2) I was gonna go with the crucial because on the main site the author recommends it as top of the line, without top of the line price.

3) 8800GT is a little over budget...the 8600GTS should be fine on min, right?

4) I'm not interested in massive amounts of storage, but think I will at least upgrade to 80Gigs.

Actually, that and all you guys have been VERY helpful!!! Thank you so much! I have an issue though. A local computer store owner was dead set against me building my own PC. He made it seem like there is a 100% chance i'm going to break somthing in the process (blow somthing up he called it). He was concerned i wouldn't have the proper workspace among other things. I was just going to use a wooden desk and one of these anti-static wristbands. Not acceptable? It did kinda seem like he was really pushin to sell me his "gaming" PC though...

Thats probably why, he wanted to put horror stories in your head do you buy his one

Ok firstly, the in built PSU's that come with cases are terrible, they are generic, low quality and shouldn't be trusted, with a computer like this, i would say there was a 20 to 50% chance one of the those PSU's will go wrong, and when they do go wrong, they often end up taking components with them.

The 8600GTS should be fine for Crysis on medium with maybe some things on high, don't feel bummed out if it can only play on low, that game is the biggest power hog around.

Okay, I am about ready to order my parts. Or I will be once I save some more money, lol! But one thing bothers me. How do I pick the right power supply? I know I have to look at more than just the Watts, but what else? Like the cooling or anything like that? I should of said two things though. Where and how do I work? I think a wooden desk is appropriate? What about a pool table? And "grounding" myself? How do I do it? How do you use the wristbands?
