View Full Version : Why is this Dual Core 6600 more than a 6750?

What am I missing? The 6750 has a higher number and a faster speed, yet it's much less expensive.

And then the 6850 is more expensive than either (which does make sense):

But this 6700 is the most expensive of all:

Why must they make this so confusing?

The E6600 is old technology and is very hard to come by, so its more expensive, there is no reason to buy one, but the prices are high still for the sole reason they have been discontinued.

The E6700 is the spec above the E6600.

The E6850 is the spec above the E6750, these have replace the ones above.

So then if I wanted to go with a dual-core instead of the Q6600 (which I am strongly considering after reading this board) for a gaming machine, would the 6850 be the best choice? Is it worth the price jump over the 6750?

The E6850 imo is too much of a price jump to warrant being a good deal considering you can overclock the E6750 to the same speed with virtually no temp increase.

The Q6600 is good and when games start supporting it it will not have any rival no matter what their clock speed.

At the moment the max number of cores a game uses is one or two, although CoD4 uses four cores.

Games will run fine lol, they just won't use all four cores yet, future games will almost certainly utilise all the cores though.
